Managing Your Mailbox Print

  • 0

We will set up your mailboxes and provide you with the details to set up your account. Many web hosting companies over sell their services and promise "unlimited" email and web space. It's not possible for services to be unlimited and keep any kind of quality of service. We do not over sell, and aim to keep things manageable for you. Our mailboxes are set to a certain size, say 100mb or 200mb rather than being 'unlimited'.

Managing your email is a good thing, as the bigger your mailbox gets, the slower your email program will process email and search for things. Backing up or synchronising a massive mailbox to your phone can also take hours!

If your mailbox is full, people will get a "bounce" message when they email you, as there is no space for their email in your inbox. To make sure you don't fill up your mailbox, here are a few pointers:

  1. All mailboxes count towards the space total - inbox, sent items, deleted items etc.
  2. If you send and receive large attachments such as digital photos, PDF documents or MP3s, you will fill your mailbox very quickly. Email is not meant to be used for large attachements - use a service such as Dropbox or https://www.transferbigfiles.com/ instead.
  3. Depending on your email program, you may be able to monitor your mailbox size to ensure that it doesn't get full.
  4. You will receive an email on your main account address if you are getting near to your email or web space quota.
